Easter in Cornwall gives families the chance to spend quality time together, making the most of the beautiful outdoor playground that encompasses us on the north coast. Family is at the heart of what we do at Camelot Castle and with rooms still available over the Easter break we can’t think of anywhere better from which to explore the coast than our relaxing and welcoming home away from home. Alongside visiting nearby spots like Boscastle, St Nectan’s Glen and the historical Tintagel Castle we have a plethora of activities the whole family can get involved with this Easter in Cornwall.
Treat your tastebuds to a delightful Easter afternoon tea right here at Camelot Castle. Our incredible team of chefs have created an Easter feast of scones, finger sandwiches and delicate pastries that both children and adults will find irresistible. Pair these delicacies with a hot coffee, your favourite tea, or even a glass of bubbles if you’re feeling indulgent. Enjoy all of this while overlooking the rugged cliffs and stretching sea as it sparkles in the distance.
Hop, race and hula-hoop your way through Lanhydrock’s historic formal garden for just £3 per child and get out in nature as spring bursts into bloom at the magnificent National Trust estate; make your way around the trail and collect a chocolate or free from egg at the end as a reward. Visit the decorated Stables Tea Room afterwards and treat yourself to a cream tea or extend your walk by exploring the expansive estate.
Get out on the water and cruise across the stunning Cornish coastline on one of Wavehunter’s boat trips, taking in the diverse range of sea life from birds and seals to dolphins and even the occasional whale. This traditional event takes place on Easter Sunday morning and is a great way to show your support for the RNLI whilst embracing the Easter spirit with friends and family. The raffle means there are plenty of prizes on offer while children are invited to design and decorate their very own hard-boiled egg to roll down Duke Street, making it the perfect day out for the entire family.
It’s no surprise that Cornwall is considered one of the best places in the UK for wild swimming and if you know where to look, a magical spot is never too far away. North Cornwall is home to the spring-fed Goldiggins Quarry on Bodmin Moor and the tree-flanked steams at Respryn and Cardinham Woods, all of which offer idyllic bathing areas to cool off under the balmy Easter sun. With plenty of ledges for jumping and great routes for walking, you’d be remiss to ignore the opportunity for adventure on Camelot Castle’s doorstep.
After a morning of swimming and exploring, head back to the warm embrace of the castle and refuel with a hearty lunch at Irina’s Restaurant. Enjoy superb freshly-cooked food made using local produce in front of the equally superb panoramic views over Tintagel Castle and the bridge. If the sun is shining, dine and drink al-fresco on the Camelot Castle terrace where you can appreciate the view even more.
Dairyland Farm Park
Dairyland has been providing fun on the farm since 1975 and is the perfect day out for families with young children. Say hello to the animals in the farmyard, hop aboard the tractor trailer, test your milking skills on the purpose-built model cow and take an amble on one of the ponies before heading down to the nature trail.
Set off from Camelot Castle adventure across farmland and clifftop on the Tintagel Circulars, three walks making use of the many excellent footpaths around the village. These walks are written with families in mind and aim to include something of interest for any age group. They are each circular but vary in length and terrain so your day can be planned to suit the walkers.
Enjoy your Easter chocolate guilt-free by heading out across the Camel Trail, an 18-mile largely traffic-free, surfaced and virtually level trail suitable for walkers, cyclists, horse-riders and wheelchair users. Divided into three sections, the trail runs 5.5 miles from Padstow to Wadebridge, 5.75 miles from Wadebridge to Bodmin and lastly 6.25 miles from Bodmin to Wenfordbridge. Bikes are available to hire at any of these locations and the trail is free to use so you can explore the Cornish coastline at their own pace.
